Our House: Missoula’s Ronald McDonald House is located at 3003 Fort Missoula Road on the campus of Community Medical Center. We provide a home away from home for families of pediatric patients seeking medical attention for their children in Missoula. We also accommodate women experiencing high-risk pregnancies who must be near but not in the hospital.

Our House provides eight family suites with private baths, laundry rooms, a large double kitchen and dining area, playroom, living room and fenced in back yard.

Our guests come from all over Montana and from several surrounding states.  In addition to having a pediatric patient, families must have a permanent residence that is at least 40 miles (or 40 minutes) away from Missoula.  A nominal donation is asked of our guests, however, no one is turned away because of inability to pay.  Guests are admitted on a first come first served basis.  Referrals come through the patients’ medical providers.

Each family is asked to clean their own rooms and help to keep the living areas clean for all the guests.  Cooking and cleaning are done as much as possible in a home like atmosphere.  Donations of  food and cleaning products are always welcome, guests  purchase groceries to prepare in our spacious kitchen or depending on resources, the House can provide basic food products.

In addition to the family living areas, the Ronald McDonald House, Missoula has a conference room, capacity 50, which is used by local medical facilities free of charge and by community groups for a nominal fee.

In 1999, a group of volunteers approached the board of directors at Community Medical Center in Missoula about the possibility of locating a Ronald McDonald House on it’s campus.  Proving the need for such a facility and receiving permission from Ronald McDonald House Charities, Global was followed by Community Medical Center donating the land on which our facility is located.  In 2001 Oz Architects was hired to design the House and fund raising began soon after.

The Ronald McDonald House, Missoula opened for it’s first guests on April 12th, 2006.  Since that time, we have had a 90-98% occupancy rate.  Our families have found a clean, calm place to relax and be apart, at least for a little while, from the traumas that have brought them to Missoula.  Comments like, “This is one thing we don’t have to worry about.  You are in a good safe place” and “I thank God every day for this House being here”, let us know that we’re doing the right things here in Missoula.

Community members are encouraged and welcomed to volunteer at the House to assist with answering phone, filing, data entry, checking guests in and out, light cleaning, yard work, envelope stuffing, cookie baking, light maintenance and meal preparation

While the House is completely paid for, the work of fund raising continues as we strive to strengthen families so they can support their children.  Yearly events such as our Red Shoe Ball in April of each year  www.artfromtheheartmissoula.com, the Bitterroot Classic Triathlon in August www.bitterrootclassictriathlon.com, the Ronald House Golf Marathon in June and the Gingerbread House Contest in November & December [email protected] are events when our sponsors, donors and generous participants help to raise the funds necessary to keep the House open.  Fund raising events sponsored by various civic and other organizations, private donations, memorials, corporate and foundation support also contribute to our ongoing needs and successes.
